20 Year Anniversary Open Day

Red Deer Village, the retirement village in Stepps, Glasgow, is turning 20 this summer! To celebrate, we will be hosting a 20 year anniversary open day on Saturday, 29 June, 1pm-4pm. All residents, their friends and families are welcome to join us. We also invite visitors, local businesses, friends of the industry, staff, and anyone else who would be excited to share our birthday with us. All of our residential park homes for sale will be open for anyone looking to view while they are here. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit our retirement over 50s park in all of its’ glory!
Our Story
Brothers, John and Ivan Hendry, travelled around the world, visiting Australia, Canada and the Unite Sates of America. They were inspired by the retirement villages abroad, and brought their ideas back to their home country of Scotland. They aimed to mirror the high quality look of the parks they’d seen on their travels.
The Hendry brothers took ownership of former holiday park, Craigendmuir Caravan and Camping Site, on 24 June 2004. The site was heavily invested in to redevelop the land, with the first residential park home of Red Deer Village joining us in 2010.
Over the past 20 years, children of the park directors have worked within the business. Some have gone on to find their own paths, while others are still prominent within the park. Grandchildren have even now joined the family!
Our Development
The residential park home community in Scotland has seen some huge changes over the past 2 decades. Park homes from leading manufacturers such as Stately – Albion, Homeseeker and Omar have transformed the village, with 97 homes now on site. Red Deer Village is now on its phase 4 of 5 development, with 183 homes planned total.
A massive step for the retirement community was the introduction of its’ residents hub in 2017. The £450k purpose built space was designed to provide residents with a place they could host events and socialise with neighbours. It’s been a huge hit with the locals ever since its’ grand opening!
Our 143 residents also have access to a courtesy shuttle bus. This takes residents for their weekly shopping, as well as on a monthly outing to a destination of their choice.
Prior to the takeover in 2004, the land at Red Deer Village had areas of the ground that were unused and overgrown. In its’ history, it has even been a piggery and part of the railway service! Now, the development of residential park homes sits adjacent to our 5 star holiday park. It also makes up part of the Cardowan Moss nature reserve.
20 Years
Red Deer Village are proud to be celebrating their 20 year anniversary. We’ve had much success to celebrate over our time, including numerous 5 star ratings for our holiday park. We take great pride in our accolades in the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme and the fantastic works and events carried out for charities. Red Deer were even crowned PH&HC’s 2016 runner up park of the year! We’ve sponsored events in our local community, used local contractors and suppliers and offered local businesses to visit our hub and show off their products. Red Deer Village have also accepted special guests to the park, including Rufus Bellamy, local MPs over time and current local MSP, Fulton MacGregor.
We’re very excited to see where the next 20 years will take us. We hope everyone can make our 20 year anniversary open day on Saturday, 29 June.
