As well as having no through traffic, we have the safety of CCTV cameras for entry security. With that in mind, we’ve put together our favourite wee trips around the West Coast that are just a short train or car ride away!

Just under an hour away, Loch Lomond makes a great day trip or weekend break! There are so many beautiful spots around the famous loch. For shopping, browse Jenner’s, or pick up fresh, local produce from the farmer’s markets every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Keep an eye on their website for special events too. If you’re feeling like treat yourself, head to the exceptional Cameron House for dinner or spa treatments, or even a night’s stay.
Just a further 25 minutes North from Lomond Shores, on the Eastern side of the loch, is Balmaha. After driving through stunning Scottish towns and landscape, you’ll come to this small village. Great for a quieter stay, there are beautiful B&B’s, as well as lodges available for hire right beside the water. Enjoy walks down to the water for a chilly paddle, and have delicious homely meals in The Oak Tree Inn.

Day trips
The Ayrshire coast is perfect for a day trip. Take your pick from the plethora of coastal towns such as Troon, Girven, Turnberry and Maidens. Here, you can get the full seaside experience – dip your toes in the water, eat fish and chips and treat yourself to a wee ice-cream. Popular restaurant favourites are The Wee Hurrie or Scott’s in Troon overlooking the harbour, and Wildings in Maidens. For dessert, if you’re feeling nostalgic, head to Nardini’s in Largs for your ice-cream.
There are also great sites to see such as Culzean Castle and the Robert Burns Museum. If you’re looking for a little luxury head to Turnberry for spa treatments, golf and superb food.
We love Red Deer’s proximity to all this natural Scottish beauty, and residents can take full advantage of this without the need to worry about the security of their home.
