Parks Make Places: Celebrate with Red Deer Village

Parks Make Places Social Impact Day

On Friday 2nd May 2025, we proudly celebrated the very first Parks Make Places Day — a campaign launched by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA). This initiative shines a light on the essential role that holiday and residential parks play in building sustainable communities across the UK.

At Red Deer Village in Stepps, Glasgow, we’re thrilled to be a part of this movement. Our park is more than just a place to live — it’s a community where sustainability, economic growth, and quality of life come together.

Why We Believe in Sustainable Living

At Red Deer Village, we offer luxury residential park homes for the over 50s. They are designed with comfort, style, and the environment in mind. Our single-storey homes are built to be low-maintenance and energy-efficient which makes them perfect for those looking for a simpler, greener lifestyle. Prices start from £187,950, for our fully furnished, ready to turn the key homes.

We take pride in our park’s contribution to the environment through our landscaping. For instance, we use native plants that require less water and support local biodiversity. Wherever we can, we do our part to create a more sustainable living environment.

Leading by Example in Conservation

Caring for the environment goes beyond our homes. We’ve taken proactive steps to boost flood resilience and cut down on carbon emissions. This aligns closely with the BH&HPA’s environmental goals. We are proud to share that we also consistently work towards challenges and goals set by the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme. The aim of this scheme is to encourage parks to boost their awareness of their impact on the environment wherever possible. Our location near Frankfield Loch is a real bonus too. It gives our residents easy access to green spaces that encourage outdoor activity and a connection with nature.

Supporting the Local Economy

Being part of the North Lanarkshire community means we’re also contributing to the local economy. From employing local maintenance teams and contractors, to recommending nearby shops and service providers. We make it a priority to support local businesses. Since the arrival of our minibus, our residents are provided with the opportunity to venture out twice weekly. They see destinations within the local community, such as Kirkintilloch, Cumbernauld, Robroyston Retail Park, and The Fort Shopping Centre. Every new resident and every visitor to our park helps fuel economic growth in the surrounding area.

Creating a True Sense of Community

What really sets us apart, though, is our people. Our residents are friendly, welcoming, and full of life. Through our Community Hub and a calendar of resident-led activities, a close-knit environment has been fostered. Some of our residents grow to become good friends and they all genuinely care about each other. Some of our residents have also taken an active role in helping to raise funds for our monthly chosen charities wherever they can. The bingo, quiz, and social events held by the group have contributed to the funds we are able to donate monthly. It’s this strong sense of belonging and like-minded neighbours that helps to make Red Deer Village feel like home.

Our Commitment to Doing More

To mark Parks Make Places Day, we were delighted to welcome our local MP, Katrina Murray. We offered a closer look at how we’re putting community and sustainability into action here at Red Deer Village. It was a chance for our residents to share their voices directly with someone who can help drive real change. Speaking with change-makers is a vital part of building a future that reflects residents’ needs. We also invited Cardowan Community Meadow, a fantastic local charity, to connect with residents and guests about their upcoming projects and how to get involved.

Cardowan Community Meadow held a raffle on the day to raise funds for their cause and we were absolutely delighted to see one of our residents, Margaret Johnston, win a lovely hamper of fresh fruit and veg which was put together by the wonderful team at the Meadow. Strengthening these relationships is part of our ongoing commitment to community-led growth. We’re excited to keep building opportunities that benefit everyone who calls Red Deer Village home.
