Red Deer Village, over 50’s retirement village on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland, have plenty of new updates for our spring news 2024! With staff updates, quiz nights and new residents – read on to find out what’s been happening in our retirement community.

New Bus Driver

Alistair, our long running bus driver, retired from service in December 2023. Alistair had worked at Red Deer Village for 8 years, and we are grateful for his loyalty. 

In our spring news 2024, we now welcome our new bus driver, John. With all training now complete, John is now getting settled into the village, and has lots of ideas on how the bus can be used. If you have an appointment at the local doctor surgery, would like dropped off at the library or train station, need a trip to the pharmacy or the Co-Op, or anything else you can think of nearby, we’d be happy to organise the trip with John. Just let us know! We’re also now looking for ideas for our monthly bus trips, first one to take place in April. 

Outstanding Service

A huge thank you to George, our gardener at our retirement park for 5 years. George celebrated his anniversary in February. Here’s to another 5 more, George!

Quiz Night

We hope everyone has been enjoying the monthly quiz nights that have been taking place in the hub! These normally take place on the last Monday of the month during the winter season. Below pictures are from our February quiz, where the winners were the Wooden Tops of Oakwood Court. As always, thank you to Arthur Glen for organising.

Other events held in the hub recently include our weekly knitting bee on a Tuesday afternoon. And don’t miss our weekly Friday evening fish van, delivering fresh fish straight to our residents!

Charity Donations

The donation box in our residents hub has managed to raise £31.03 for Dog’s Trust and £37.40 for Scottish SPCA. Thank you to everyone who donated. Our charity boxes sit at our coffee bar, and we welcome donations from anyone enjoying a beverage in the hub.

 Our Newest Resident

Harris, our newest resident, joins us at Red Deer Village! He is a Shetland sheep dog and is only a few months old. You may see him outside the park going for a walk! We hope he is very happy in his new home.

Christmas Decoration Winner
